South Florida in for a warming trend through the weekend
It was another cool and clear start for South Florida on Thursday, but warmer weather is on the way.
Thursday morning kicked off with temperatures in the upper 50s and lower 60s. In the afternoon, they will climb to the lower 80s. There are no alerts out on the water for boaters, but swimmers need to be aware of a high rip current risk at the beach.
While Thursday will be mostly dry, the Next Weather team said there is the potential for a few isolated showers Thursday afternoon into the evening. Any showers which do develop would be light and would fizzle apart overnight.
Thursday night into Friday, a total lunar eclipse will be visible in South Florida from 2:26 a.m. to 3:31 a.m. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the lower 60s.
The warming trend continues for the weekend as afternoon highs will linger in the lower to mid-80s Friday through Sunday afternoons. Breezier conditions from the south and southeast will help bring more humid conditions to the area, leading "feels like" temperatures to peak in the lower to mid-90s on Sunday.
Relief from the muggier conditions will arrive on Monday as a cold front swings through South Florida. This front will also spark the potential for scattered showers and a few storms to start the work week. We'll quickly clear up and dry out by Tuesday.
