South Florida Prepares For Huge, Event-Packed Weekend
SOUTH FLORIDA (CBSMiami) – You could call it a mega weekend for South Florida.
In Downtown Miami, folks like Dylan Day are starting to arrive. "I came all the way from Seattle, Washington," Day told CBS4's David Sutta.
Day talked to Sutta as if the Seahawks hat and Seattle flag he's carrying on his backpack didn't give him away.
Day is here, along with 60,000 others, for the second weekend of the Ultra Music Festival. "It's for the love of the music. Come out here and have a good time for three days," Day said.
Austin Young, who lives downtown, thought last weekend's show and crowds were a lot. He hasn't seen anything yet.
"It's going to be crazy. If you drive a car don't come down here. Take the train...take the PeopleMover...whatever you can," Young pleaded.
Two blocks north of Ultra, the Miami Heat will chase the record for longest winning streak. The team plays Friday and Sunday, with an Alicia Keys concert in-between.
South of the Heat games and Ultra's concerts is the Sony Ericsson tennis tournament on Key Biscayne. On Miami Beach, the Home Design and Remodeling Show gets underway at the Convention Center. Believe it or not, the social calendar goes on and on but you get the picture: there's plenty to do this weekend.

And to add to all the fun going on downtown, Miami Police will make getting around a little more challenging.
Part of Biscayne Boulevard will be shutdown for all the Ultra traffic. On Key Biscayne, tennis fans will battle part of the Bear Cut Bridge shutdown.
While some may be bothered by the traffic, Wine By The Bay owner Stephano Canpanini is toasting the massive social calendar.
"Wish it would last for a month or two," Canpanini told us.
Situated across from the American Airlines Arena, his wine shop has seen spectacular sales. "Let it be. Let it grow. We are here. We are all here, happy to see the city growing and growing again and becoming stronger," Campanini said.
Young is embracing it as well, even if he is trapped inside his apartment.
"The traffic sucks but the good thing is I work at this building right here and tomorrow I get to work from home so that nice."
Wherever you are headed this weekend, you'll want to bring two other things: your wallet and plenty of patience.
