MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Another wave of winter weather is pummeling parts of the country. From the Midwest to the Northeast, city crews are working at full strength to keep people safe.
"Today we're getting 12 inches of snow," said Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. "So we are getting in this 24 hour cycle what we got in the month of January, which is why we're making sure the resources are there to keep our streets plowed and passable."

Winter storm Linus is the most far-reaching of the season, stretching from Nebraska to Maine. The winter weather is having a ripple effect on air transit across the nation.
For the second time in less than a week, thousands of flight passengers in South Florida are stranded.
"I'm all bummed out. I can't go home and I have to sleep in a hotel. I'm not feeling good at all," said Fritz Elienberg, who was trying to fly home to Boston.
It's been a long day for passengers, who've gone through great lengths to try to make it back home.
When Debra Terry's flight to Chicago got cancelled at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International airport, she drove down to MIA, hoping to catch a flight.
"I've come from Fort Lauderdale to Miami to get on a plane to get told the flight was cancelled," said Terry. "We actually got on the plane and they told us that we had to get off."
Michael Noorani tried to beat the cancellations by trying to get on an earlier flight back home to New York, but he said he's stuck in South Florida for a couple of days.
"They're telling me that I have to wait till Tuesday morning till I get a flight but I'd like to get out of here as soon as possible," said Noorani.
Another long day awaits some passengers come Monday, who'll take their chances to try to get to their final destinations by taking different connections.
"They tell me if you want to leave tomorrow to Philadelphia and hope there's a flight from Philadelphia to Boston," said Manuel Diaz, who's trying to fly to Boston.
MIA airport officials reported 36 cancelled flights and 8 delayed flights Sunday evening.
Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport reported 10 cancellations and 21 delays.
The number of flight cancellations are expected to rise across the country because of the winter weather.
