South Florida facing heavy rain, minor flooding this weekend
Showers moving through the area Saturday morning will gradually work inland by Saturday afternoon and evening. Heavy downpours will reduce visibility and lead to minor flooding on roadways as showers continue to develop off the coast and move over the same area over the next few hours.
With a little more sunshine this afternoon temperatures will be able to climb into the mid-eighties. The breeze continues Saturday and Sunday leading to rough surf and hazardous boating conditions.
Slightly drier air may lower rain chances on Sunday with showers developing mainly in the morning and moving inland by the afternoon and evening.
We continue to monitor the tropics with an area of low pressure expected to develop in the Western Caribbean over the next few days.
As it moves north towards Cuba it will be pushed to the west and likely move into the Gulf of Mexico by the middle of next week. Even though it is forecast to remain to our south it will bring an increased rain chance and gusty wind to the Keys and South Florida next week.
We will continue to monitor the development and track over the next few days.
