South Florida Crowned Next Spot For Miss USA
DORAL (CBSMiami) – Doral residents should get ready for an invasion of young beautiful women, tons of hairspray and full glitz because the Miss USA pageant is coming to South Florida.
Donald Trump, who owns the pageant, announced Sunday that he will move Miss USA out of Las Vegas and to his golf resort in Doral for the next three years, according to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald.
Contestants between the ages of 18 and 26 years old compete in the nationwide contest where they are judged in swimsuit, gown, and interview competitions. The winner then goes on to represent the U.S. at the Miss Universe pageant, which will be held in Russia's capital Moscow this year.
Trump said 18 different countries were looking to host Miss Universe, set for Nov. 9, this year, according to the paper.
In 2011, Miss Universe was held in Brazil and there were talks of moving it to the Dominican Republic before it was ultimately held in Las Vegas in 2012.
