South Florida Chills Out For Holiday, Warmer Temps On The Way
MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- It was the coolest morning of the season so far across South Florida with lows falling to the upper 40s and low 50s across South Florida.
With the brisk winds, it even felt like the low 40s for folks living across the inland areas due to the "wind chill" factor. There were wind gusts up to 25 mph overnight.
The average low is 66 degrees for this time of year, which means that a few neighborhoods woke up to temperatures nearly 20 degrees below normal.
It's feeling more like fall and the holidays just in time for the Thanksgiving Holiday courtesy of a strong cold front that swept across the state Wednesday.
South Florida is now enjoying mainly dry, breezy weather due to high pressure building in across the area.
The cold air continues to spill down the state of Florida, which means highs will be in the low 70s Thursday afternoon with abundant sunshine. Thanksgiving night will not be quite as chilly as Wednesday night, but it will still be cool with highs closer to average with the upper 60s near the coast and the low 60s inland.
The "cool snap" will be gone in a snap as highs Friday will rebound to the upper 70s.
As the winds veer more out of the northeast, there will be a bit more moisture working into the area in the form of some more clouds and some showers on the breeze.
The warming trend continues into the weekend with lows back near 70 degrees and highs in the low 80s with about a 20-percent chance of showers with breezy conditions.
