According to "The Economist", the U.S. isn't even close to the best.
The study looks at eleven indicators, including economic factors, governance, crime, and length and quality of life, to determine a newborn's chances of having a healthy, safe and prosperous existence.
Switzerland tops the list, followed by Australia, Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
Two Asian countries, Singapore and Hong Kong, make the top ten, but the only country from the Americas to do so is Canada.
Twenty-five years ago, the U.S. topped the list, now it's dropped to sixteenth.
Billionaire Warren Buffett has said that anything good that has happened to him could be traced to the fact that he was born in the right country, the U.S., at the right time.
Unfortunately, if you believe "The Economist," now is not the right time to be born in the U.S.
Why? Because of the massive debt baby boomers are leaving for the next generation.
