Something Extra: Shame, Shame, Shame #2
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Marlins and, to some extent, you and me as taxpayers, have become the laughing stock of the sports world, even all the way across the Pacific.
Taiwan's Next Media Animation hilariously and depressingly ridicules Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria, saying he tricked local taxpayers into building him a stadium by promising he'd field a competitive team, but showing Loria had his fingers crossed.
It also says no one should be surprised he broke his promise in less than a year because Loria destroyed the Montreal Expos for money and gutted the Marlins after they won the World Series.
It also argues Major League Baseball forced Frank McCourt to sell the Dodgers for less egregious behavior and that Loria is far worse than McCourt.
On Wednesday, I called on baseball's ineffectual commissioner, Bud Selig, to avoid presiding over the death of baseball in South Florida.
On Thursday, Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado followed suit, calling for the commissioner to intervene.
We're still waiting, Mr. Selig.
