Something Extra: Most Sleep-Deprived Cities
MIAMI (CBS4) - If you were yawning right during the 6 o'clock news, I may have to take it personally, because South Floridians are getting more sleep than people in most U.S. cities.
An analysis of data from the Centers for Disease Control found the most sleep-deprived city in the country is Charleston, West Virginia.
If you can figure out why... please let me know... the study's authors don't explain it.
We're sleeping well in Miami-Fort Lauderdale. On the list of a hundred areas studied, we were among the least sleep-deprived at eighty first.
The city that never sleeps, gets more shuteye than you'd think. New York was thirty third.
What happens in Vegas... is sleep. Sin City ranked fifty third.
They're not sleepless in Seattle. It was fifty eighth.
And if you thought Hollywood stars partied hard, think again. L.A. was ninety-third.
I couldn't see a clear pattern in the list, other than finding people in college towns and in cities with bad climates tend to be sleep-deprived.
But a city with a terrible climate gets the most sleep: frigid Green Bay, Wisconsin. I guess there's nothing to do there but sleep and watch football.
