Something Extra: Livable Or Not?
MIAMI (CBS4) - Mercer's annual survey of the world's most livable cities once again isn't good news for South Florida.
Vienna, Austria came out on top again. It also took the honors in a separate survey that declared it the world's "smartest city".
Zurich, Switzerland was second most livable and European cities dominated, taking eight of the top ten spots.
Auckland, New Zealand took third, Sydney tied for tenth.
Best in the Americas was Vancouver in fifth, and bunch of Canadian cities placed higher than the top U.S. cities, Honolulu and San Francisco, at twenty eighth and twenty ninth.
Miami ranked sixty sixth, fourteenth among American cities, barely ahead of St. Louis, Atlanta and Detroit, the least livable in the U.S. I didn't know we had it so bad.
Really bad is Baghdad, the world's worst.
Overwhelmingly, the cities at the bottom are in Africa, with a lot of company from former Soviet republics and Middle Eastern countries.
The two least livable cities in the Americas have strong South Florida ties. Port-Au-Prince was third to last at two hundred nineteenth and Havana was one hundred eighty ninth. The Castro brothers must be proud.
