Something Extra: Is Miami The Country's Vainest City?
MIAMI (CBS4) - When I heard today that Miami had been chosen as the country's vainest city, my first reaction was: "duh".
We're so vain, we probably think Carly Simon's song is about us.
The "LivingSocial" survey looked at how highly we rated our own attractiveness and at how many of us had cosmetic procedures.
Ironically, while we South Floridians have some serious inflation in evaluating our own looks, we're less generous when asked about how good-looking our neighbors are. We only ranked our women sixth and our men ninth.
The Second City came in second vainest. But, Chicago vain? That was a surprise. So was L.A. coming in sixth. Angelenos should have taken second.
Poor Cleveland came in dead last. They'll probably blame Lebron for that too.
But having a high opinion of ourselves was not just a Miami problem: one in three of Americans rated themselves as an eight, nine or ten and only 28% thought they were a five or less.
And to paraphrase Carly Simon again, we Miamians are so vain, we don't need to wear our hats strategically dipped below one eye, but we probably do keep one eye on the mirror.
