Something Extra: A Florida Motel Bares It All
MIAMI (CBS4) - When times get tough, motels go naked?
That's what the Fawlty Towers Motel in Cocoa Beach is doing, starting today. The cash-strapped motel is struggling to survive, so its pinning its hopes on nudity.
But its website is a little schizophrenic.
On one hand, it says the motel will promote family-friendly nudism... is it just me or is that an oxymoron?
The nudism is supposed to be, quote, wholesome and non-sexual, so single guys need to be approved in advance and swingers and talk of swinging is prohibited.
On the other hand, employees will be dressed, but bartenders will be topless.
And if you're not staying there, you can buy day passes to hang out at the pool in your birthday suit.
I'm not sure how wholesome all that is, but nudist vacationing has been one of the fastest-growing segments of the travel industry. I found about a dozen nudist resorts in Florida.
Who knew?
My favorite and most ironic of the nudist motel's rules: sexual and provocative clothing is banned. Huh? At a place where you can bare it all, some clothes are too sexual?
