Soaking Pattern To Bring Heavy Rain, Street Flooding
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Heavy rain is expected across parts of South Florida through Wednesday. By Sunday night, some locations around South Florida had already reported two-and-a-half inches of rain.
Flooding was reported in Miami, Miami Beach, Surfside, Miami Gardens, Virginia Key, North Miami, North Miami Beach, Aventura, Sunny Isles Beach, Opa-locka, Miami Shores, North Bay Village, El Portal, Ojus, Little Haiti, downtown Miami, Coconut Grove, Liberty City, Sun Life Stadium and West Little River.
The National Weather Service in Miami said the rainfall is not a result of Tropical Storm Bertha. Instead, it is from a weak area of low pressure that has shifted westward across Florida.

Some computer models project an additional one-and-a-half to two-and-a-half inches of rainfall. Localized flooding is a concern as the ground in many parts of South Florida is already saturated from summertime rain. Some locations could receive in excess of three inches of rainfall.
The areas most likely to see the heaviest rainfall will be the east coast and metro areas.
After the low pressure area moves away, the weather should return to a normal pattern.
Tropical Storm Bertha is expected to stay away from South Florida, but as the storm passes by the Bahamas, the rip current risk will increase along the east coast beaches Monday night through Tuesday.
