Power Outages Minor Across South Florida
ACROSS SOUTH FLA. (CBSMiami) — A very small number of South Floridians are already without power prior to Tropical Storm Isaac's arrival.
Here is a summary of power outages:
Miami-Dade County: Florida Power & Light reports 2,000 customers are without power in Key Biscayne but it's not confirmed whether or not its weather related. Other than that, there are 200 customers without power in the rest of the county.
Broward County: 250 people are without power.
Monroe County: Keys Energy and the Florida Keys Co-op (from the Dade/Monroe County line to the 7 mile bridge) reports no outages as of noon Saturday.
Florida Power and Light has activated its emergency response plan. They have 7,700 restoration workers plus 5,200 line and vegetation workers.
They have set up 12 staging sites in the areas where the storm is expected to hit in order to get close to the storm and work around the clock to store energy. The workers will remain there until the storm is over.
Remember to stay away from any downed electrical lines and assume every line is energized and dangerous. If you see a downed line, dial 911.
