So. American Company Makes Colorful Splash In Miami
MIAMI (CBS4) - A South American housewares retailer has chosen Miami as its first United States location.
Last December, Casa Ideas opened its doors to the US market in The Shops of Sunset Place. The home goods store, which sells everything from colorful bowls to bed sheets, inhabited the massive two-story spot vacated in 2006 by the Virgin Megastore.
The Chilean-based company also has stores in Colombia, Bolivia and Peru. Ten million dollars has been allocated to the opening of more stores in Florida, with a plan to move west to Texas, California, and eventually the rest of the country.
The store features an array of affordable items and emphasizes its unique, colorful flair.
"We have about 70 designers exclusive to our store that develop designs. Eighty percent of what you see is exclusive to us," says the Mirelle Rodriguez the Miami store's manager.
