Sneak Peak At New Hollywood Beach Margaritaville
HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) – Parrot heads may soon be flocking to Hollywood Beach. Developers of the new Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Hotel Resort have released new renderings of the Jimmy Buffett themed-beachfront oasis.
The $130-million dollar resort will be located at Johnson Street on the Broadwalk and across A1A on the Intracoastal Waterway.
The resort will be 17 stories and have 349 rooms, along with seven restaurants, several bars, a spa, and retail shops. There's also a lagoon pool which features a water slide and a "Flo Rider" used to simulate surfing which will be open to the public.
The developer expects to break ground in June and rumor has it that Jimmy Buffett may actually attend but nobody will confirm it for fear the the crowd will get too large.
Construction is set to start in July. It's expected the opening will take place in August 2014.
For months, the anticipation of Margaritaville has spurred a frenzy of improvements up and down A1A and the Broadwalk. Restaurants and hotels have been securing grants from the Community Redevelopment Agency's improvement program to shore up storefronts. The CRA has also fed millions to revamping the Broadwalk, as way to get ready for Margaritaville.
