Multiple Smash & Grabs In Broward Have Police On The Hunt

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - Police are investigating an attempted smash and grab of a cellphone store in Davie where thieves didn't get away with anything, but in Plantation and Pembroke Pines, burglars managed to steal thousands of dollars-worth of merchandise.

Surveillance video from inside the Team Wireless Unlimited store at 180 S University Drive in Pembroke Pines shows four men breaking into the store early Wednesday morning.

Within two minutes, the men rush in, hop the counter, grab as many cell phones and accessories as they can and rush out.

Giorgio Negron is the store's general manager.

"My impression…this is crazy what they did," said Negron who said he was frustrated by the break-in. " They stole phones that will be blacklisted...and it's the wrong way to make a buck."

In Plantation, an AT&T store, located 12231 W Sunrise Boulevard, was broken into early Wednesday morning. Police say the burglars used a truck to break through the concrete walls and glass windows before stealing multiple cellphones from inside.

As plywood went up at the AT&T store, customers can only shake their heads in disgust.

"It's garbage and sad to see. Fortunately, nobody was injured that's a good thing," said Todd Amuntson, an AT&T customer.

It's possible that the burglars did not stop there.

A T-Mobile in Davie appears to also have been a target. According to police, it's the third time someone has tried to break into this same cell phone store in the last four months.

Tire tracks can be seen going up the curb and into a window that's already been boarded up as well as a concrete wall. Also, a closer look shows some red paint left behind.

Although investigators believe a red truck was used in the Plantation robbery, they can't say if it is the same truck and same burglars that hit the Davie store.
