Smash & Grab Thieves Hit Spy Shop
NORTH MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) - A North Miami Beach spy and surveillance equipment shop was broken into early Sunday morning.
Manager Josefina Capriles said surveillance video captured five people entering Spytrix on Biscayne Blvd. through a broken glass window around 5 a.m.
"They took all the DVRs. They took the tracking devices which are really expensive machines," Capriles said who added it's still too early to tell the exact monetary value of everything they got away with.
"We have 16 cameras here covering this area," Capriles said as she shared the surveillance video with CBS 4 News. "They don't care about it. They wear cover."
The burglars were covered from head to toe and their faces were hidden.
Capriles said the crooks were in and out in five minutes.
The thieves appeared calm and calculated and the manager thinks they knew exactly what they were looking for.
"They don't spend time looking for things that aren't worth money," Capriles said. "I think they have been here before, for sure."
One safe is missing. The video showed the burglars carrying it out of the shop.
Capriles said authorities have been notified.
"They tell me it looks like they are the same guys that steal from Aventura and other stores," Capriles explained. "They are looking for them. Don't worry we will catch them."
From one of the surveillance camera angles, two cars, a white one and a black one, were seen driving away.
Police suspect these smash and grab thieves are the same ones who burglarized a hh greg store in Aventura on August 23rd and a hh greg store in Hialeah on August 15th.
