Small Plane Made Emergency Landing On Busy Road In Doral

DORAL (CBSMiami) – A small two engine plane has been towed away nearly 24 hours after it crash landed.

Crews spent the using a saw to cut the wings of the plane and they also removed the right and left engines.

Federal investigators were on scene Monday where a small plane went down on a busy road in Doral.

The pilot of the Beechcraft BE-76 made an emergency landing on 25th Street just west of 87th Avenue, near Miami-Dade Police Department headquarters.

The plane hit some trees and an Amazon truck before coming to a stop.

The pilot and his passenger weren't hurt. According to the NTSB, the pilot reported losing power on his right engine which forced him to land in the street.

The plane is registered to Osorio Aviation, according to the FAA.

The pilot was inbound from Hilton Head, South Carolina, bound for Miami Executive Airport. He came up short.

Ahead of the Monday morning rush hour, the plane was moved off of 25th Avenue onto 89th Court. Drivers in the area were surprised by the sight.

"You don't really see a lot of accidents here in the street, but a plane," said Neydet Serrano.

The plane blocked the road Serrano normally used to get to the building she and her husband rent nearby.

"It's a little scary because people drive here, this a very crowded area," she said. "It could have killed somebody."

FAA records show the plane's certificate is valid through 2022. It is registered to Osorio Aviation Court at Miami Executive Airport but state records show the business is not active.

Authorities have not released the names of those involved.

NTSB says it usually takes 12 to 18 months to complete an investigation.
