Sister's Call To Police Leads To Discovery Of Double Homicide
WILTON MANORS - (CBS4) - Wilton Manors police are investigating a double homicide over Christmas weekend.
Early Sunday morning the bodies of two men were found in their home at 2513 Northeast 8th Ave.
Neighbors say the two victims rented the home and had lived there under a year.
Police have not released the victim's names.
A sister of one of the victims called police when her brother did not arrived at her home for the holidays. When Wilton Manors police went to the home to conduct a welfare check they found the two men dead inside.
"I was like, oh my God!" says neighbor Mitch Geasler whom police woke up early Sunday morning as they began their investigation.
Geasler said the block where they live is transient, filled with snowbirds, renters and vacationers at a nearby bed and breakfast.
He tells CBS4 News that one of the victims attended a cocktail party at his home recently while his housemate searched for a missing bird. Geasler says the two victims were passionate about small birds they kept in a large tented aviary in their backyard.
"One vehicle is gone and last week there was a dog in the backyard that's gone," says Geasler.
There is a black pickup parked in the driveway, but police say the other vehicle the men drove is missing.
The missing car is described as a black 2003 Saturn Vue with a Florida tag no. 989VRL.
"We are asking for the public's help if they see this vehicle to call police," said police spokeswoman Alesia Furdon.
