Sheriff's Office Looking For Roof Top Cat Burglar

POMPANO BEACH (CBS4) - A would-be cat burglar in Pompano Beach took 'breaking and entering' to a new level when he decided to break into a supermarket through its roof.

Surveillance video from April 9th shows the man trying to break into the El Mariachi Supermarket on SW 2nd Court around 3:40 a.m. through a side door. When that didn't work, he scaled a wall and broke into the store through a vent on the roof.

Though the suspect didn't get away with anything, he left behind property damage.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said their detectives have been able to link this man to at least six other crimes and, in all, they believe he's stolen more than $3,000 in cash from safes and registers and has left behind over $25,000 in damages.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the burglaries is asked to call BSO Detective Jimmy Moulin at (954) 786-4201 or Broward Crime Stoppers (954) 493-TIPS (8477).
