Sheriff Searching For Slap Happy Bus Passenger
OAKLAND PARK (CBS4) - A Broward woman with a bit of a temper is wanted by the county's Sheriff's Office for slapping a transit bus driver in Oakland Park.
On Thursday BSO released the bus' security video of the incident which happened last October in front of a 7-Eleven store at 38-hundred N Andrews Avenue. Just after 8:30 a.m. driver Tassos Kostopoulos, 72, was behind the wheel of bus #919 on route 60 when he stopped in front of the convenience store. A woman got on and told him she didn't have any money.
Kostopoulos told her she'd have to get off at the next stop. When he pulled along the curb and opened the doors, the woman was accidentally hit by one of them. She immediately launched into verbal attack on Kostopoulos, cursing him and telling him she was going to sue him for hitting her with the door.
As she became more agitated, she wheeled back her right arm and smacked Kostopoulos across the face, telling him he was 'lucky she wasn't an aggressive person'. She then stormed off the bus.
Kostopoulos immediately called BSO who canvassed the area but couldn't find the woman.
When they do find her, they plan to charge her with battery on a person 65 years or older.
