Shark Attacks Man Near Jensen Beach
JENSEN BEACH (CBSMiami/AP) – Sharks are on the prowl in Florida and are attacking almost by the day.
Martin County officials reported that a bull shark bit a man multiple times in the arm Thursday afternoon; his injuries were not life threatening.
Lifeguards had called swimmers out of the water twice after sharks were spotted in the water. Beachgoers waited about 30 minutes before returning to the water.
This was not the first shark incident in Florida this beach season. At least five other people have had close encounters with sharks thus far in March.
Two teenagers were attacked by a shark while surfing in New Smyrna Beach Thursday. A teenaged boy and young girl suffered bites within five minutes of each other Wednesday afternoon in Volusia County, and earlier this month in Brevard County, a man was bitten while swimming on the Canaveral National Seashore.
