Sexual Harassement Suits Against Fmr. Schools Police Chief Settled
MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) – A pair of lawsuits filed by two female police officers with the Miami-Dade County school system which accused the former police chief of sexual harassment have been settled.
Cmdr. Deanna Fox-Williams and Officer Yewande Gibson claimed in the lawsuits that former chief Charles Hurley asked them for dates and then retaliated against them when they refused his advances over several years.
Hurley denied the claims but resigned in February when the school system took steps to demote him.
Miami-Dade schools investigators found Hurley behaved inappropriately but not that he harassed the women.
Terms of the settlement announced last week in open court were not disclosed in court documents.
