Several Homes Damaged As Severe Weather Sweeps Across S. Fla.

SUNRISE (CBSMiami) - Homeowners in one Sunrise neighborhood are assessing the damage after a possible tornado touchdown Tuesday night.

Severe weather and tornado warnings plagued most of South Florida Tuesday night, forcing people to take shelter in their homes to ride out the fast moving storms.

CBS4's Gio Benitez arrived at a home near the intersection of 133rd Avenue and Northwest 8th Street which sustained a partially torn off roof, damaged garage door, several broken windows and scattered debris. Officials believe the damage to the home was the result of a direct tornado hit.

The National Weather Service will need to determine if that was the case.

The weather set up had become apparent earlier in the day when a tornado watch was issued for all of South Florida.

Conditions remain favorable for more thunderstorms and possible tornadoes and a tornado watch remains in effect for South Florida through 6:00 a.m. Wednesday.
