FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami/AP) — The FBI has arrested a serial Florida bank robber, who has served prison time for prior heists, after his mother identified him.
Investigators say 50-year-old Robert Watson of Cooper City held up a SunTrust branch last month in Plantation, getting away with about $3,000.
The FBI says Watson has previously been convicted of bank robberies in 1987, 1996 and 2003.
The FBI says a witness saw a person matching the description of the SunTrust robber drive away in a black Pontiac G6. Agents searched a state motor vehicle database and found Watson.
The SunSentinel reports that Watson's mother identified her son when shown robbery surveillance photos.
Watson is due in federal court Monday. Court records did not list an attorney for him.
