Send In The Clowns

MIAMI GARDENS (CBS4) -- Send in the clowns! This week, Neighbors 4 Neighbors teamed up with a traveling circus for a special school performance that brought some truly magical moments to some very deserving children.

Dozens of children gathered in an outdoor courtyard for some circus fun brought to 'His House Children's Home' by the Universoul Circus.

Universoul is a traditionally black circus committed to the community. The performers made a pact to bring some acts to special schools across South Florida and called Neighbors 4 Neighbors to find the perfect fit.

"It's exciting and it's wonderful and I hope to see a lot of happy faces," exclaimed His House Executive Director and Founder, Jean Caceres-Gonzalez.

And there were many happy faces. Faces, like Darius Davies', a 10-year old who explained to CBS4's Nicole Maristany, what he loved best about the show. "All the tricks and all the stuff that he scared us with was awesome".

'His House' began as a home for children in crisis, but just like the children it serves, 'His House' is growing.

"It's developed into a full case management where we advocate for the children in court and we help the families so that they can recover from whatever crisis caused the child to come into the welfare system" said Caceres-Gonzalez.

Today it's a bustling campus full of thriving children, many who say the school changed their lives.

"They take some of the kids that don't have families," said Davies. His schoolmate, 12-year old Megan Steagall added, "It's special because all of the teachers take time and they work with you and you learn a lot."

There may be a lot of learning but during the special circus performance, there was a lot of fun, too.
