Senate Votes To Weaken Growth Controls
TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami.com) – The Florida Senate approved a bill Friday that could lead to more construction work, or lead to more urban sprawl.
The Senate approved a bill that will roll back the state's ability to control growth. Governor Rick Scott said the bill will make it easier for businesses to create new jobs.
Democrats protested saying the bill will allow more urban sprawl, higher taxes, and runaway growth.
The measure was part of a deal agreed to during a joint legislative panel negotiating spending difference between the House and Senate.
Because of that, the Senate was prevented from making any changes to the House version.
The House will still have to approve the bill before it's sent to Governor Rick Scott's desk.
