Sen. Marco Rubio Throws Support Behind Mitt Romney
WASHINGTON (CBSMiami) — Republican hopeful Mitt Romney picked up a big endorsement from one of his party's rising stars.
Sen. Marco Rubio announced Wednesday that he is supporting Mitt Romney for the party's presidential nomination.
Rubio says it's increasingly clear that Romney will win the GOP nomination and that it's damaging to continue a primary fight that, at this stage, only helps President Barack Obama.
In an interview which aired on Fox News, Rubio said he thinks Romney has earned the nomination.
While complimentary of the other GOP candidates, the Florida Republican says he's convinced that Romney will govern as a conservative and will be head and shoulders above Obama as a president.
Rubio has been mentioned as a potential running mate. He tells Fox News that his heart, mind and focus remain on the Senate and that he doubts he'll be asked to join a Romney ticket.
