Seminole Tribe Atop Latest List Of Inauguration Donors

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/NSF) – Overall contributions to Gov. Rick Scott's inauguration festivities reached nearly a million dollars, and on Friday the Republican Party released the names of four additional donors that helped make it happen.
The Seminole Tribe of Florida contributed $25,000 of the $60,000 outlined in the latest list. The contribution came as a portion of an agreement giving the Seminole Tribe exclusive rights to conduct card games at seven of its facilities dries up in July unless lawmakers and Scott renew the deal.
Also chipping in $25,000 was the Doctors Company FL PAC, a California-based political action committee representing the nation's largest-physician-owned medical malpractice insurer. On its website, the company notes, "All you need is a belief that protecting patients and doctors is more important than enriching trial lawyers."
Giving $5,000 each were Miami-based reality fishing show Bass2BillFish, LLC, and William Clayton, a shareholder with the influential Greenberg Traurig law firm. The four donations were made to the Republican Party on Monday. Scott was sworn in for his second term Tuesday.
The total contributions were $847,700.
