See? Wishes Do Come True, Lauren
AVENTURA (CBS4) -- All Lauren wanted was to spend a few nights at the Nickelodeon Hotel in Orlando, and thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, she soon will be doing just that.
Lauren, 10, is battling life-threatening cancer and had made her wish known to the Foundation that is awarding wishes to several critically ill children across the country. But Make-A-Wish is not alone in its charity, Macys, as part of its National Believe Day, also is contributing.
Lauren traveled Friday to Aventura Mall where Macys is giving her and her family gifts for her trip that will begin December 18. Lauren, who enjoys dancing, playing Monopoly and watching television, lives in South Miami-Dade County.
Macys National Believe campaign partners with the Make-A-Wish Foundation by inviting children to mail letters to Santa using Macys Santa Mail Letterboxes. Macys then donated $1 for each letter received – up to $1 million to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
For each letter submitted Friday the store will donate another dollar to Wishes Across America in order to grant more wishes and to encourage people to embrace the spirit of good will and to want to make a difference in their own communities.
