Security Sweep At The Orange Bowl Ahead Of NYE Game

MIAMI GARDENS (CBSMiami) – Those looking to ring in the New Year with some football will be heading over to Sun Life Stadium for the Capital One Orange Bowl.
Preps are underway Wednesday morning for the New Year's Eve matchup between Mississippi State and Georgia Tech.
Police dogs sniffed around delivery trucks, through the stands, and in the locker rooms Wednesday morning during a security sweep at Sun Life ahead of the big game.
"We have the dogs sweet the stands, we have the bomb techs search the cars and throughout the day were inside the stadium and we search various parts of the stadium and were here until the end of the game," said Miami-Dade Police Department's Lt. Jeff Schmibinger.

Before the game even starts, the field gets a fresh layer of paint.
Both teams at the 81st Orange Bowl are playing with hopes to ring in 2014 with a victory and the iconic orange-filled trophy.
The stadium is expected to host 50,000 fans for the game, which kicks-off at 8 p.m.
A packed stadium with a football game in the national spotlight, security is top priority even before the attendees arrive.
"To ensure the safety of all the players and teams and parents and the community that's here," Lt. Schmibinger.
No major incidents have happened at an Orange Bowl Game and law enforcement wants it to stay that way.
