Sec. Sebelius In Florida Discussing Healthcare.Gov
ORLANDO (CBSMiami/AP) - She's become the face of the Affordable Care Act's botched roll out, but Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will return to the Sunshine State to talk about enrollment on healthcare.gov.
The website has been plagued with problems since it went online on October 1. The Obama administration has promised the website will work for "most users" by November 30.
Sebelius has appeared before multiple Congressional committees on the topic of the failed roll out of the site and has drawn scorn from the GOP.
Customers in 36 states were supposed to use the website, healthcare.gov, to sign up for health care after most Republican governors decided to not run their own healthcare exchanges.
The states that run their own exchanges, like California and Kentucky, have not seen as many problems as the federal site has run into thus far.
A fraction of the people that were expected to sign up have signed up through the federal web site. Republicans say the figure is dwarfed by the number of policy cancellations due to those policies not meeting minimum standards.
However, Democrats are also quick to point out that the cancellations due to failing to meet minimum standards don't measure up to the number of people who are being denied expanded access to Medicaid in the primarily GOP-led states.
Sebelius will visit Miami and Orlando during her trip on Tuesday.
