SEC Football Media Days Kick Off
HOOVER, Ala. (CBSMiami) – It may be just mid-July, but football season is right around the corner and that's on display in Hoover, Alabama Tuesday as the annual Southeastern Conference media days kickoff.
The SEC media days are becoming must-see events as the conference continues to dominate the college football landscape. This year, the conference issued more than 1,000 credentials for media members and fans often show up to see their favorite coaches and players.
Coaches and players will face the media for the first time during the 2013 season during the media conference. Among those appearing on the first day will be: Florida coach Will Muschamp, Missouri's Gary Pinkel, Ole Miss' Hugh Freeze, and South Carolina's Steve Spurrier.
Wednesday's slate includes: Texas A&M's Kevin Sumlin, Kentucky coach Mark Stoops, Mississippi Stae's Dan Mullen, Tennessee's Butch Jones, Auburn's Gus Malzahn, and Arkansas's Bret Bielema.
Wednesday also could be noteworthy because Texas A&M quarterback, and reigning Heisman Trophy winner, Johnny Manziel will talk to the media. Manziel has drawn criticism and apologized to his coaches after being sent home from the Manning Academy over the weekend.
Thursday could be the busiest day as Alabama's Nick Saban, LSU's Les Miles, Georgia's Mark Richt, and Vanderbilt's James Franklin are all scheduled to appear.
