Police Search For New Clues In N. Miami Triple Murder
NORTH MIAMI (CBS4) - Five weeks after the murder of three people inside a North Miami home, their loved ones are pleading for the public's help as a new reward of $8,000 is being offered in this case.
"It's really hard to express my feelings," said Kimberly Hansack, the aunt of 15-year-old victim, Ashley Chow. "But she really meant a lot to me. It's hard to face another day now that she is not here. She was like my daughter. She was such a very nice, sweet girl. Someone must know something about this."
Hansack made those comments amid some very emotional moments inside the North Miami Police Department, as six relatives from the three families spoke out, shed tears, and joined Major Neal Cuveas in his call to "get the ruthless killers off the streets before they strike again."
Chow, 25-year-old Harlen Quiroz, and 35-year-old Israel Rincon were found murdered inside a home at 480 N.W. 134th St. on the afternoon of January 2nd. Quiroz and Rincon lived in the home that they were renting from Chow's mother and that Chow was visiting.
Police say they are stumped. They have no leads, no suspects, no motive in this case. Major Cuevas told CBS4's Peter D'Oench that it was not clear who was being targeted and he added there have been no tips so far to Miami-Dade Crimestoppers.
Police said $7,000 of the reward was being put up by Rincon's family. The rest comes from Miami-Dade Crimestoppers.
"I'm a nurse at Memorial Regional Hospital," said Lula Peralta, the aunt of Harlen Quiroz. "And I am ready to give up my job because without Harlen it is not the same. In my heart I must tell you we have to have closure. Someone has to know something. We need to find the killer. Please come forward, please. If not for Jesus, for justice. Come foreward if you know something. Be a man about it."
Israel Rincon's mother Neiva Gonzalez sobbed as she spoke in Spanish about her son. "He never harmed anyone," said Gonzalez. "And ever since he came here from the Dominican Republic, he liked to help boys in trouble. And he tried to save them through sports. He was a big baseball fan and that's how he hoped he was doing some good."
In an earlier interview, Chow's mother Audrey Hansack said that, "My daughter was only 15 years old. I can't believe it. She's my angel. She's in heaven right now. She's in heaven. She was President of her class at Thomas Jefferson Middle School. Her teachers loved her."
Chow was a student at North Miami High School and hoped to go to college one day.
"I'll always remember her through these photos in her prom dress at Thomas Jefferson and on a field trip to the U.S. Supreme Court," said Hansack. "I have a lot of questions about why this happened."
Police originally thought this was a murder suicide but then ruled it was a triple homcide.
Wednesday afternoon, Lula Peralta and other loved ones went door-to-door in the neighborhood where the three victims were killed.
"Someone has to come foreward," said Peralta. "They have to."
Anyone with information on this case is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
