Scott Under Fire After Fla. ObamaCare Cost Reduced To $3M
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami/AP) — The so-called "ObamaCare" law will cost the state $3 million, not $26 million as Florida Gov. Rick Scott first told federal officials this week.
The revised figures was released by state health officials Wednesday after dogged pressure.
Critics accused Scott of overstating the figures to support his opposition of so-called "ObamaCare." His staff had been cautioned about the higher initial estimates.
But Scott defended his projections Thursday, saying he's trying to figure out the government's real costs are and what they're actually going to pay for.
Scott said he doesn't want to expand Medicaid and later stop it due to lack of funds.
