Scott Signs Human Trafficking Bill Into Law
ST. PETERSBURG (CBSMiami/AP) - Governor Rick Scott signed a bill into law Thursday to bring relief to victims of human trafficking.
The new law (HB 1325), signed by Scott in St. Petersburg, allows victims of human trafficking to petition to a court to expunge records of convictions while being coerced in the sex trade.
Also, under current law, any victim older than 11 must testify in court, but the new law will allow minors, up to 16, to provide an out-of-court statement.
