Scott Promises Action At The End Of Schools Summit
CLEARWATER (CBSMiami/AP) – All though the three-day schools summit, put together by Governor Rick Scott, is coming to an end, exactly what it means for teachers and students in the state of Florida still remains unclear.
The summit was called by Governor Scott because he said the state's A-to-F grading system had reached a critical point.
Governor Scott, however, was not in attendance which drew fire from the state's Democrats who said Scott's absence showed he was detached. But one GOP legislator at the summit said Scott's presence would have "overpoliticized" the summit.
Suggestions made at the summit, according to the Scott administration, will be used to draw up possible legislation for 2014.
Scott may also pursue additional school-related initiatives.
The Republican governor is scheduled to meet Thursday with former Gov. Jeb Bush to discuss education issues. Bush helped create the current system.
