Scott Attends Libertarian Retreat Hosted By Koch Brothers
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (CBSMiami.com) – Governor Rick Scott took time out of his schedule over the weekend to attend a retreat held by libertarian activists, the Koch brothers.
The Koch brothers, Charles and David, have been linked to various union-busting efforts, helped bankroll the Tea Party, fight against efforts to curb global warming and other libertarian ideals that have been accepted into the Republican Party.
The Center for Public Integrity found that the brothers had invested close to $40.5 million in political and lobbying efforts. They've been involved in a war against President Barack Obama's agenda at almost every turn, according to the New Yorker magazine; and as billionaires, have the money to buy their way into the political discussion.
Scott's visit was not listed on his official schedule over the weekend, but the governor described the event as "very interesting," according to the News Service of Florida.
Scott said his attendance was to see what was working in other states and to share his successes with other conservative government officials in attendance.
Past attendees of the conference include GOP leaders like House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and conservative commentator Glenn Beck.
