Schuhmann On Wade: "If I Were Him I'd Feel A Little Insulted"
NBA.com advanced stats columnist John Schuhmann joined the Big O Show on 560 WQAM to discuss the free agency rumors surrounding long time Heat guard Dwyane Wade. He also offers his thoughts on Hassan Whiteside signing a $98 million contract.
On Dwyane Wade:
"I see both sides of the story. Wade obviously wants to get repaid for some the money that he has given up. If I were him I'd feel a little insulted that they just handed $98 million and a starting salary of $22-23 to a guy that really hasn't proved himself consistently day in and day out. If Wade were to accept $40 for 2 years he's again not the highest paid player on the team and getting paid less than Whiteside."
On dumping Goran Dragic and Josh McRoberts:
"It makes a lot of sense. Even the McRoberts and Dragic salaries could be traded soon just because there's teams still with cap space that could use a Point Guard at $17 million. It makes a lot of sense and maybe it's time to turn the page and really look forward to next years free agency class and know that the draw of Miami is going to be a factor for some of these guys that are free agents next year. But I think easier said than done when you're talking about Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat. The head is in one spot the heart is in another sport for both parties. Saying goodbye to what they build over the last 12-13 years"
