Lauderdale SWAT Called Out After Police Chase, Bail Out
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A pair of burglary suspects didn't get too far after they reportedly snatched someone's chain in Lauderdale Lakes.
Ft. Lauderdale police and Broward Sheriff's chased the suspects' car until they bailed out near the 1300 block of NW 9th Street in Ft. Lauderdale. One person was taken into custody.
A second person hid in a residence at 1321 NW 9th Avenue. Police officers and deputies surrounded the building and a Ft. Lauderdale SWAT team was requested. Before they could arrive, Chopper 4 over the scene spotted police handcuffing a person at the house and walking him to a squad car.
When the SWAT team arrived, they searched the building and found no one else inside.
Police are looking for a third suspect. They know who he is they just don't know where he is.
The Broward School District has confirmed that a school near the house, Sunland Park Elementary at 919 NW 13th Terrace, was placed on lockdown until the situation was resolved.
