School Bus Ads Bill Passes In The House
TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/AP) – Legislative bills which would permit some advertising on the sides of school buses and require online posting of legal notices have been approved by the Florida House.
The school bus bill (HB 19) was passed 108-7 on Wednesday. Supporters say the state requires cash-strapped school districts to transport students but doesn't fully fund that service. They add that schools have allowed advertising at athletic stadiums for years without problem.
The public notice bill (HB 937) was approved 113-0 on Wednesday. It would require legal notices to be placed on a newspaper's website the same day as in the paper at no extra charge. Newspapers that charge for online access would have to provide a free "link" to view legal notices.
Both bills go to the Senate for consideration.
