Satellite Hitting Earth Friday
CAPE CANEVERAL, Fla. (CBSMiami.com) – NASA may not have any shuttles to launch, but they are still busy trying to figure out exactly where a decaying satellite will hit the earth Friday.
The satellite weighs roughly six tons and should hit sometime Friday afternoon or early evening Eastern time. Luckily for North Americans, the satellite won't be passing over the country at that time.
The decaying climate satellite is roughly the size of a bus, but should break into more than 100 pieces with much of that burning up in the atmosphere as it drops to the earth.
NASA believes around 25 large metal chunks are expected to make it through the atmosphere and be deposited somewhere around the world.
NASA said that if a part of the satellite does crash to not touch it and immediately call law enforcement.
