Sandbags Available To Help Prepare For Isaac
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Flooding is always a concern as a tropical storm moves across the area. The South Florida Water Management District already lowered canal levels in advance of the storm to prevent flooding.
But, that doesn't always mean all of the water will stay out of people's homes. That's why many South Floridians are getting set up with sandbags as Tropical Storm Isaac takes aim at South Florida.
In Broward County, there are two free sandbag locations that are currently open:
- Hollywood Public Works Facility
1600 S. Park Road
Hollywood - Driftwood Community Center
3000 N. 69th Ave

In Miami-Dade County, the city of Homestead has set up two self-service sandbag stations for residents. Residents will be allowed to fill up to five bags. Residents are asked to bring their own shovel and fill their own bags as well as provide proof of identification to indicate Homestead residency. The two locations in Homestead are at:
