Salvation Army To Hand Out Ice Cream To Homeless
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami/AP) – As our summer time temps soar in the lower 90s in the afternoon, the Salvation Army has come up with a unique way to help the homeless in Ft. Lauderdale cool off.
They're handing out ice cream cones.
The organization estimates it will serve close to 200 ice cream cones Tuesday at a popular Fort Lauderdale intersection where many homeless people gather when they are looking for shelter.
Employees at the Salvation Army said they are always looking for new ways to reach out to the homeless and encourage them to seek services to help them get back on their feet.
