Sale Of $47M Home Sets Miami-Dade County Record
MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) - A two-acre piece of paradise on Indian Creek Island is now off the market.
3 Indian Creek Island Road sold for $47 million, setting a new record for the most expensive home sale in Miami-Dade County.
"I think it's one of the finest residences worldwide," said co-broker Jill Eber. Jill and her partner Jill Hertzberg make up the broker team "The Jills" of Coldwell Banker. The property was co-listed with The Alexander Group of Douglas Elliman Real Estate.
The 10-bedroom, 14-bath contemporary compound is one for the record books, according to the developer.
"It had all the components in real estate," said Jill Hertzberg. "It had location, it had view, and it had imagination, and beauty and uniqueness that no other property had."
While the new owner's identity isn't being revealed, his neighbors include familiar faces like singer Julio Iglesias, model Adriana Lima, and famed coach Don Shula.
But celebrity residents aren't all Indian Creek has to offer.
"They have their own police, the patrols, the waterways, the streets," Eber said. "There's nothing like it. You have an 18-hole golf course in the middle of it."
The home also boasts a sweeping view of the bay and a private beach.
For developer Shlomi Alexander, closing the deal marks the end of a journey that started 4 years ago.
"Not too many people believed in us. We went against odds," Alexander said. "The crisis with the financial institution. People said, 'Who's going to buy a 50, 60 million dollar house?'"
Originally listed at $60 million, the 30,000 square foot limestone, wood and glass creation was eventually reduced to a $52 million, before selling for $5 million below asking.
With an infinity pool, wine room, koi pond and more, some will argue, it's worth the hefty price tag.
"This is very much close to utopia," Hertzberg said.
Alexander already has plans to build a similar, but smaller home on Bal Harbour. That property will be listed near $25 million. He plans to break ground October 1.
