Saban's Wife Declares Nick Not Going To Univ. Of Texas
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (CBSMiami) – If a happy wife does indeed make a happy life, then University of Texas fans hoping Nick Saban will come to Austin should start looking for other coaches.
Terry Saban, Nick's wife, told the Wall Street Journal in an extensive interview that she hasn't been house-hunting in Austin, Texas and when asked about the University of Alabama, "We're staying. We're not going anywhere."
While her husband's guarantees of not moving to another coaching job ring hollow, his wife's statement leaves little doubt that the family doesn't want to pick up and move again. It's easy to understand why as since 1999 Saban has coached at: Michigan State, LSU, the Miami Dolphins, and then Alabama starting in 2007.
If Terry Saban's words are to be taken at face-value; it will be welcome news to Alabama Crimson Tide fans and many Texas fans that were against making a move for Saban.
The Texas rumors began after the Longhorn got off to a disastrous start to the season. The Longhorns were spanked by BYU and followed that up with a home loss to Ole Miss. Texas rebounded with victories in the Red River Rivalry, but were thumped by likely Big XII champion the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
The Longhorns currently have head coach Mack Brown under contract through 2017. Saban is under contract with Alabama and is currently the highest paid coach in college football at $5.54 million per year.
