S. Fla. Shivers As Temperatures Tumble Again
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Keep the jackets handy. It was a very chilly start across South Florida Wednesday with some inland locations dropping down to the mid to upper 30s, while the coast hit the low 40s.
With winds out of the northwest reaching 5 to 15 miles per hour, it feels even colder. A Wind Chill advisory was issued for the coastal and metro areas of South Florida until 9:00 a.m. due to 'feels like' temperatures ranging from 30 to 35 degrees.
A Freeze warning is in place for inland South Florida and areas west of the Turnpike in Miami-Dade County until 9:00 a.m. due to the potential for freezing temperatures.
This shot of arctic air is sometimes called the Siberian Express because the air actually originates in Siberia. The air is extremely dry as well.
After this frigid start, temperatures will gradually moderate and Wednesday afternoon, the highs will creep up to the low 60s.
Thursday morning will still be chilly with lows in the 40s. Thursday afternoon will be cool and comfortable with highs around 70.
There will still be a chill in the air Friday morning with some 40s and highs closer to the mid 70s. The milder trend continues into the weekend with more seasonal temperatures. Nights and early mornings will be in the 50s and highs will reach the mid to upper 70s. Sunday and Monday, it'll be back into the 80s.
