S. Fla. Lockerbie Widow Reacts To Death Of Qaddafi
CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) - A South Florida woman who lost her husband in the 1988 Lockerbie bombing is in disbelief over the death of Libyan dictator Moammar Qaddafi.
Victoria Cummock's husband, John, was killed when Pam Am Flight 103 exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland 22 years ago.
U.S. officials have always believed Libya's Moammar Qaddafi ordered the bombing, but he never admitted to the crime.
Cummock told CBS4's Michele Gillen that she never thought she would see the day when the world would be rid of the controversial leader.
"My feeling was shock and disbelief I never thought I could see this in my lifetime," said Cummock. "He was a man that lived by the sword and died by the sword. Seeing the violence brought me back to the fields of Lockerbie."
Cummock told Gillen she now wants to travel to Libya to see firsthand the transition it's people will make after rising from a 42 year oppression.
"My husband was a family man," remembered Cummock. "I think that John would be grateful today that another terrorist was taken out."
