S. Fla. Flight Delays & Cancellations Due To Emily
MIAMI (CBS4) – A handful of American Airlines flights headed to or from Haiti and the Dominican Republic have been canceled or delayed due to Tropical Storm Emily.
According to Miami International Airport spokesman Mark Henderson, American Airlines has canceled seven flights and delayed two.
Five arriving flights from the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico have been canceled and two flights departing for Haiti and the Dominican Republic have been canceled.
American Airlines has two other delayed flights from Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport reports no cancelations at this time.
Heavy rain from Tropical Storm Emily has been falling in the Dominican Republic, where more than 5 inches has already been seen in one southwestern city and more is still expected.
The storm has been hovering off the coast of the island shared by the Dominican Republic and Haiti, causing flooding and damaging hundreds of homes.
The storm, with top sustained winds of 50 miles an hour, is expected to move over Haiti later Thursday.
